When i hear the name Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial and many more, i think of baseball.
When i hear names like Barry Bonds, Mcgwire and many of the players today, i think of steroids.

Babe Ruth holds the record for home runs. Others have just hit more in seasons that are longer and the fields smaller. The only other i recognize is those by Hank Aaron. Baseball in my opinion is not Americas game anymore.

After a recent comment, i have been wondering about faith. Is is OK to have faith in something other than God and Christ? What about trust? Our money has In God we trust. What is the difference between Faith and Trust? I define Faith as the assurance that i hold within my heart that God will do what he has promised to do. Is it OK to have faith in mankind? I have faith in a lot of people, or should i say that i just trust them. Let me hear any thoughts or ideas that you have.

I had intended to mention in my previous blog about another place that has had a lasting impression on my life. In 1971 George and Julia took me to the American National Veterans Cemetery in Luxemburg. Standing beside General Patton's grave and viewing the graves of so many americans is an experience that i will never forget. I suppose that is why my eyes tear up when our National Anthem is sung. Freedom does not come without a price, it comes with lives dedicated in maintaining that Freedom. Never forget that.

Well, the rain has come today to round out a very good Memorial Day Weekend. On Saturday, we visited graves of family members at 4 cemeteries including the National cemetery in Little Rock where i have a brother buried. We also visited the new cemetery in in No. Little Rock for Arkansas Veterans. When i go to these places especially the veterans cemeteries it gives me a greater sense of appreciation for the men and women who died so that i may have the freedom and opportunites to live a peaceful life without fear.
I realize also there is a lot of anger in our country about the war in Iraq. I have pondered the pros and cons of this situation and have concluded that the right decision was made. I am also convinced that the threat is not limited to Iraq, but other areas such as Iran and North Korea.I remember also the days of the Holocaust and what Hitler done. I am fully convinced, there are those today who are just as ruthless as Hitler. I went to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam with George and Julia and also realize that no matter what you do you are never fully free of danger when evil men seek to destroy you. I will go on record and state that I support President Bush and the efforts he has in place to defeat terroism. 9-11 is still fresh on my mind and i mourn the men and women who lost their lives that day and feel a great deal of sympathy for their families.
I think also of the words of Paul in Eph. 6:11-13. Put on the full armor of God so you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the whole armor of God, so when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,
Paul reminds us also in 2Cor. 11:14, Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Yes, this Memorial day is extremely important to me. I feel that all the annimosity that i hear and read about discredits those who are fighting for my freedom. I cannot know why decisions are made to do things a certain way during war time, but i must rely on those who make those decisions based on their ability to do so. However, whatever happens i can still have faith that God is in control. No matter how much we critisize, it does not change the situation. At my age it does not affect me that much but my concerns are for my kids, grandkids and great grandkids and all the younger generation who will live in this world in years to come. I pray for their future lives and that they can live in a country free from those enemies who seek to destroy.

Today, i saw on TV one of the most disgraceful events that just makes me sick. The event at Boston College that happened to Condoleesa Rice should not have happened to a dog. This group who demonstrated against her actually shows the low life they actually are. She is one of the most respected person by millions of Americans. I can hardly consider this gang at BC,
Americans.

Thank God i am a conservative. These following comments are taken from an article in the Dem/Gaz. newspaper in Little Rock. Written By Paul Greenberg.
Who with any political sense in the 1950's would have predicted that by the end of the century, conservatism would come to dominate American political thought.
How did it happen? It came to pass because American conservatism was able to articulate the country's values in a way that made sense to a new generation of Americans.
And what are those values? A faith in freedom- in the right to life, liberty and our own property. In foreign affairs, conserservatives would display a constancy of purpose that would prevail despite unsteady allies abroad and the old lure of isolationism at home. Who, besides Ronald Reagan would have thought that the end of the Soviet Union would not come with a bang but a whimper? And with it, the end of the Cold War and the nuclear arms race between the world's two great superpowers. Talk about seizing the moral imagination.
The great political achievement of Ronald Reagan was to transform a cozy club into a populist movement, and his example remains instructive. Like Lincoln before him, the great communicator was willing to accept the know nothings, but he drew the line at substituting their prejudices for his principles In Mr Lincoln's day, the know-nothings actually had a party, and its bogeyman was the Roman Catholic Church. Today's demogogues use the latest wave of immigrants to much the same effect. The Party of Arkansas's Blanche Lincoln is being told it should demand that all illegal immigrants should be deported, even if it means breaking up families, disrupting the economy and denying medical care and their children a right to education.
Beyond specific policies and programs, there is something vital in the conservative cause that proves irresistable to Americans. It is a recognition of the central, animating spirit behind values like family, community, country and Constitution. Call it the spirit of liberty. Its fruits is generosity and fellowship, not fear and suspicion. It unites, not divides. The spirit of liberty cherishes the liberty of others as well as our own. It respects- no reverences- the inate dignity of each human being. It is the spirit Of Abraham Lincoln, and it waits to be revived again.
Our faith in liberty may sometimes be obscured, but it is always there. All we have to do is articulate it, act on it and it will shine again.

Neatly tucked away in the folds of 2 Corinthians 7:4 are two benefits we can anticipate when we have the proper reverence for God and respect for others.
First: When our relationships are right, there is comfort. Paul says, "I am filled with comfort." When relationships ember away to ashes, a shivering discomfort takes place. But when relationships are in full blaze, its like curling up with a quilt in an easy chair in front of the fire place.
Second: When we have respect for others, there is joy even when things go wrong. Paul says, "I am overflowing with joy in all our affliction." Contrary to popular perception, pain--not pleasure is our greatest friend. Because pain is instructive. It clears away the veil that obscures reality.

Think about that for a moment. Remember your good times. Then remember your hard times. Which ones proved to be the better teacher? Which one taught you more? Which ones matured you? Which ones brought you closer to God?

The hard times. The crosses you've had to bear. The nails. The thorns. The dying to self. Our vertical and horizontal relationships intersect at the cross. Because its only through the cross that we come to terms with reverence for God and respect for others.

I recently had written some history on Central Arkansas Christian Schools, and now that school is over, Our athletic teams won five(5) state championships. All our athletic programs reached the state tournaments and we are so happy with the 5 championships. Our Academic programs have reached an all time high also. I will compile a list of those accomplishments also and post at a later time.

An intresting note i read today of a possible match up in the next presidential race could be a McCain/Huckabee vs Hillary C/Clark. Now that would be an intresting race. If that happened, i would really look forward to actively campaigning. I know for a fact that Elephants are a lot smarter than Jackasses.

I wonder how many Christians will spend money to buy the book or see the movie the DaVinci Code which in my opinion is another piece of trash. The price of the book or movie could be used to buy a meal for several homeless people or maybe a pair of shoes. Just think how many things for good that could be done with these dollars that will be wasted. Brown has said he has written the story to get people intrested in religion. Brown has written the book to make millions of dollars off people.

It is 1:45 AM and after 2 Benadryls, 2 Aleves and 1 Lunestra i am still wide awake. Maybe it is the after effects of two days of being sick with fever and possibly the rotten Angus Burger from Burger King i had Saturday afternoon. The only relief i had was vomiting my innards out and staying in bed. It gave me a lot of time to think.
I want to go on record of supporting my President on his steps of securing the Mexican border. Stop the masses from coming accross now and then deal with those 12,000,000 that are here illegally. I am fully aware he cannot satisfy the Democrats, but who cares as long as he gets the job done.
I also think the Duke LaCrosse team is being falsely accused based on what is being told on the news. I think Dickie Baby should go down there and get all that mess straightened out. Who really knows what went on there anyway.
I agree with Emily Webster in her article in Church & Family Magazine titled Satan's Finest Foot Soldiers. She talks about spiritual contentment. Christians who are content with their spirituality serve as Satan's finest foot soldiers in his battle against Jesus Christ. She further states, Satan has tricked millions of people into believing that going to church makes them okay or allowing them to say the sinner's prayer allows them to do whatever they want. He has convinced hundreds of thousands of a false security-they can live however they want and still be saved.(My comment, I see this feeling toward homosexuality fitting into this situation by some in the church today) Each time Satan convinces just one person to believe these fallacies, he wins not only the soul of the believer but also hundreds of souls influenced by the believer.
Webster continues stating many Americans claim Christianity because it is the socially cool thing to do. Why do you think millions of WWJD bracelets have been sold in the US or that every jewelery department has at least one piece of religious jewelery? It may be that the world's largest Christian population lives in the US, where we recite "One Nation Under God" and "In God We Trust." She states, "Lets face it. Christianity is the popular name to wear in America
She further writes,Unfortunately, though, this precious and powerful name is oftentime worn very loosely, without a thought of what it really means. It is no surprise that the person sitting behind you in class, cussing and swearing, is wearing a cross around his neck. The same can be said of a person wearing a WWJD bracelet cheating on a test. She also states for example, Fellowship of Christian Athletes have a good percentage of students who openly cheat and curse and are sexually active. One instance at a recent meeting, only one-fourth of the members present attended any church related activities. She states this is a reflection of our whole societyj many of whom Satan has exactly where he wants them-riding the fence. God calls us to be either hot or cold
The latter part of the article she states we should never be content with our spiritual lives. It is true that God is not finished with us yet- But we must yield to him before he can help us become the people he created us to be.

Emily Webster was a senior from Milton Florida at the time she wrote this article in 2000. The content was condensed from a speech she made that year at the national convention of Lads to Leaders in Atlanta. This was not the full article, i just picked out some segments to use. It is encourageing to see this type of messeges from some of our younger future leaders.

You may have noticed i have deleted most of my post the last couple of months. I am struggling with what is worthy of blogging about. Maybe i can think of something but if i don't i will just give it up. Anyway, i will be looking for something. I have toyed with the idea of my childhood. This would probably give the "The Grapes of Wrath" movie a run for who was the poorest.
